VISHAKHAPATNAM GAS TREGEDY :
At least 11 people , including a minor ,are reported to have died following a leakge of styrene gas at LG polymers “vizag plant in the early hours on Thursday. According to reports another 1000 people reported sick after gas spread in 5 villages within a 3km radius of the plant. Close to 200 people were rushed to hospital for treatment after complaining of breathing difficulties and burning sensation in their eyes , according to early reports.
Meanwhile, PM Modi said he was “closely monitoring “ the situation in Vishakhapatnam an had spoken to official in the home ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). PM Modi also held a meeting of the NDMA to take stock of the situation .
RELIEF FUND BY GOVERNMENT :
Speaking to reporters after conducting a review meeting ,Reddy also announced Rs 10 lakh each to those undergoing treatment on ventilator support and Rs 25000 to those who took treatment as out –patients after developing health complication due to inhalation of the styrene vapour.
ABOUT NEUTRALIZED :
The crucial chemical named PTBC( Paratertiary butyl catechol) reached Vishakhapatnam from Gujarat to neutralize the impact of the gas leak.
